St Mary's Parish and Kings Island is better known as 'The Parish' and is Limerick's best known historical area. Situated on the Abbey and Shannon Rivers and featuring King John's Castle, pictured below, and Saint Mary's Cathedral and a host of other important historical locations.
It is both an important link with Limerick's past and a vital part of Limerick's present. St Mary's Integrated Development Programme are located in St Mary's Action Centre in Limerick. There are organised walking tours such as Historical walking tours.
This tour lasts about 2 hours, the route takes in locations such as Merchants Quay, St Mary's Cathedral, The Exchange, King John's Castle, Treaty Stone, Bishops Palace, Sir Harrys Mall, The Abbey River, McNamaras Band.
The guided walking tours commence daily at 11.00 and 14.30, Assembly point is St. Mary's Action Centre.
