Trail: Dolphin Watch Carrigaholt
Services: Carrigaholt
Distance: 10km
Time: 2 hrs
Difficulty: Easy
Operate out of the fishing port of Carrigaholt, 10 km from Kilkee on the Loop Head Peninsula. There are a number of sailings daily from Mid-March to September (weather permitting). Bookings are advisable and you should check times.
The boat trip takes you to the Mouth of the Shannon, Ireland's longest river, to experience the diversity of wildlife in this incredibly beautiful natural habitat. A large breeding group of bottlenose dolphins, pelagic seabirds, grey seals, spectacular cliffs and even a herd of wild goats which graze on hillside slopes are all part of this amazing area of water. Baby dolphins (calves) are born each year into this group of about 140 dolphins that live in this Special Area of Conservation.
