Located 2.5kms west of Milltown Malbay and 8kms further south of Lahinch, Spanish Point, a small seaside resort in County Clare, boasts a beach which is famous among surfers for its impressive waves, rolling in from the majestic Atlantic Ocean. Spanish Point takes its name from the Spaniards who were buried there after the wreck of their Armada ships along this coast.
Nowadays Spanish point is a lot more welcoming to its visitors, and surfers can enjoy the sandy beach and range of activities available there. The area provides surfers with an exposed reef and point break with consistent surf that can work at any time of the year. The waves are ideally suited to intermediate and experienced surfers. The beach is quieter than some other surfing beaches during the summer months so it’s ideal for surfers who want to get the most out of their surf. With its stunning coastline, chilled out vibe, excellent pubs, and choice of accommodation and restaurants, Spanish Point is a favourite surfing spot among Irish and International surfers.
