No, you are not. All Waymarked Ways, Loop Walks, Treks and EcoWalks have been developed with the kind support and agreement of the respective landowners along the line of the route.
Ireland has no ‘Right to Roam’ legislation and no designated recreational areas or rights of way such as those that exist in Britain and other European countries. It is recommended that you stay along the mapped walking route.
It is recommended that you have basic map reading skills. This means that you should be able to locate your position and follow your progress along a well-illustrated trail on a map and also recognise prominent features along the trail.
It is not necessary for you to be able to navigate with a compass while walking on a Waymarked Way, Trek, Loop Walk or Eco Walk. Most of these walks are on lower ground where visibility is for the most part good. By following the markings and signposts you should have no difficulty.
No. For the most part camping is only permitted in official camping sites. In many cases though local landowners do not mind people camping as long as permission is sought in advance, due care is taken and the Leave no Trace Code is respected.
